In the work “Bags”, I refer to my collective memories; bags as carriers of emotions, memory and personal history. My take on the historical Sailor bag as a point of departure reference my post- colonial inheritance. I refer to the often-long sea journeys of sailors and migrants; sailors use to embroider their loved one’s names and images of importance to them on these bags. As the bags were the only item allowed on a journey, these bags were filled with tools of their trade.
